What is PlotX?

PlotX is a Web3 gaming startup, on a mission to build skill-based games in the Play2Earn category. PlotX has 100,000+ users, growing at 144% MoM in 7 months of launch.  Having raised $7.5m in VC funding, we’re now on our journey of charting 1 million users and are actively hiring for multiple positions.

The Role - Tech Lead

We’re looking for a Technology Lead to spearhead the engineering team at PlotX and chart this journey of hitting 1M users with us.

In this role, you will build & lead our team of backend engineers, frontend engineers, blockchain developers, QA engineers. We build across a full spectrum of technologies including MEAN stack for web-app, Solidity for smart contracts, AWS for cloud, Mongo for the backend, Tableau for analytics and various others. We are now introducing our mobile practice as well for launching the PlotX mobile app.

‘Must have’ to succeed in this role 👇:

  • Hands-on problem solving
  • 3+ years of experience as Tech Lead
  • Overall 8-10 years of experience in full stack development in Web & Mobile Apps.
  • Expert in multiple languages and frameworks such as MEAN, MERN, containerization, etc
  • Modern engineering practices such as continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, test-driven development (TDD), and domain-driven design (DDD)
  • Continuously delivering a product using principles of lean product design and hypothesis-driven development.
  • Coordinating a distributed remote team
  • Mentoring and supporting engineers and building an inclusive and diverse culture in which everyone can succeed
  • Leads by example, creating a sense of energy, ownership, detail orientation, collaboration, and personal commitment to the work
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a matrix environment and being the connective tissue between different teams and collaborators
  • Extremely organized, responsive, responsible, and accountable
  • Excellent active listening and interpersonal skills

‘Good to have’ to succeed in this role:

  • Prior experience of working in a B2C product based company will be helpful.
  • Domain knowledge in Real Money Gaming, Fintech, Ecommerce will be helpful.
  • Familiarity & Deep Curiosity with trends in crypto, GameFi, DeFi and Web3 ecosystems.
  • Experience with Ethereum, Bitcoin, or other blockchains will be a big plus

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead an outstanding engineering team
  • Make architectural decisions in collaboration with other devs
  • Work in a cross-functional team (Product Managers and Engineers) in a highly collaborative environment where you will also speak to our community and often pair to solve problems
  • Work in a full stack development environment (Angular, React, Node, Go, Rust, MongoDB, GraphQL, containerization/serverless)
  • Work on smart contract programming in Solidity
  • Coach and mentor team members to encourage continuous growth
  • Implement new features and deploy them on an ongoing basis
  • Design, implement and improve release processes
  • Provide technical support to external teams and developers
  • Work with other teams like Product & Growth
  • Work across the whole development lifecycle (discovery, delivery, testing, releasing, supporting, and maintaining) using an agile methodology
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in blockchain technology and grow our internal capability
  • Closely collaborate with internal and external experts within various technical domains
  • Help the team champion software quality while being pragmatic
  • Demonstrate and inspire a strong sense of teamwork
  • Demonstrate and inspire integrity, quality, and professionalism

Working @ PlotX

PlotX is a community project, being steered by 3 founders - Ish Goel, Nitika Goel, Kartic Rakhra. Ish has been a 3x entrepreneur. He also served as the founding CTO of Nexus Mutual from 2017-2020 and got his exit at a 100x multiple. He then moved on to build PlotX in Mar 2020.

Today, PlotX has a team of 40 members, mostly remote, along with a community of over 20,000 people all across the globe. PlotX has a young team of motivated engineers with a minimal management structure where almost everyone is actively involved in technical development and design activities.

We work on an array of technologies, including but not limited to Solidity, NodeJS, MEAN/MERN stack, Mobile Technologies like Ionic / Flutter, Cloud Technologies like AWS.

Ish is a high integrity individual that has worked on hard problems in the past. He was early to Nexus Mutual - a stable for DeFi's growth and is a pleasure to work with. I have interacted with his team a number of times and have always found them to be a pleasure to work with. This tech lead comes after a recent raise from Hashed, Animoca brands and a number of other well-known names. It will ideally be a front seat at a fast growing firm with substantial users on platform already.
